Biographical

Maureen Kirwen’s sculptural Art Work embodies a refined juxtaposition of strength, elegance and inventiveness. Her innate vision and understanding of stone allows her to create in both the abstract and representational genre. She has seen success and accolade in numerous juried shows, including New York, Washington DC, Miami, Columbus, and regionally in northwest Ohio, home to her studio and gallery, the Kirwen Art Works, housed in a 19th century former German Episcopal Church and located on the picturesque Portage river in sleepy Elmore, Ohio.

Ms. Kirwen has been published and commissioned, both public and private, and maintains affiliations with select galleries and design professionals. In addition to her acclaimed stonework, “Reenie” experiments with the chemical interaction between different patinas and stainless steel and copper, creating two-dimensional wall works with three-dimensional qualities. Ranging from warm to industrial, her metal work continues to exhibit the same natural forms which dominate her storied stonework.
